Cab, interior & comfort 7 factory variants

Control panel

One characteristic of the Scania factory specification (FPC). Every vehicle leaves the factory with exactly one of the variants below — for example 1 set — and SDP3 shows it in the chassis specification.

What it means

The programmable switch panel of the new-generation dashboard. It is delivered in one, two or three sets, with or without a cover, and each position takes a keytop whose function is defined in the vehicle specification: power take-off keytops, work lights, bodywork functions. The panel talks to the coordinator over a LIN bus, so adding a function means fitting the keytop and updating the specification, not pulling a wire.

It is a different part from the directly connected switch panels of the bodybuilder catalogue, where each switch is hard-wired to a circuit. When a PTO button is retrofitted on a vehicle with a bodywork electrical system, this panel plus the reserved switch positions are what the bodybuilder works with.

No programmable panel fitted. A PTO button on such a vehicle needs either a panel retrofit or a directly connected switch.

How to read it

Control panel belongs to the cab, interior & comfort group of the Scania specification. The variant tells you what the vehicle was ordered with — Without means the option was not fitted at the factory . The specification is fixed at production: if the vehicle was modified afterwards (a PTO added, an axle converted), the FPC list still shows the original order, while the SOPS parameters show the current configuration of each control unit. Scania SOPS Editor decodes the full specification of a SOPS file with these descriptions — including the codes themselves, which are not published here.

Questions we get about it

Which panel do I need to add a PTO button on a new-generation truck?

If the vehicle has a control panel with a free position, fit the PTO keytop there and write the PTO block in the specification. If there is no control panel, Scania sells one with space for six or ten programmable switches. A directly connected panel only works for hard-wired functions.
