Clutch protection

SOPS parameter ClutchProt · seen in 7 SOPS files

What it controls

Enables the clutch protection function in the engine management system on vehicles with a manual gearbox or a clutch pedal. When active, the engine torque is reduced if the clutch is slipping for too long or getting too hot — for instance while manoeuvring a heavy load uphill — and the driver gets a warning in the cluster. Bodybuilders of vehicles that spend long periods creeping (refuse collection, street cleaning) sometimes ask for the threshold to be reviewed because the protection intervenes during normal work. Disabling it removes the safeguard entirely, so it should only be done on vehicles where the clutch load is monitored otherwise.
