Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (AUS4 infotainment)
One characteristic of the Scania factory specification (FPC). Every vehicle leaves the factory with exactly one of the variants below — for example Android Auto & Apple CarPlay — and SDP3 shows it in the chassis specification.
What it means
This characteristic documents smartphone integration on new-generation trucks with the AUS4 audio system. Factory vehicles carrying it start in May 2022, and nothing else in their infotainment block differs from trucks delivered without it: same audio system, same infotainment level, same coordinator.
It is documentation of what was ordered, not a switch. On a truck from 2021 with the AUS4 head unit we wrote it (the vehicle accepted the specification without any error) and CarPlay still did not appear. What the AUS4 needs is the media USB port, an original Lightning cable, Siri enabled on the phone and up-to-date AUS4 software loaded with SDP3.
On the Smart Dash generation with the CID1 centre display the smartphone functions are separate characteristics (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto) and belong to a different electrical platform.

Factory variants
How to read it
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (AUS4 infotainment) belongs to the cab, interior & comfort group of the Scania specification. The variant tells you what the vehicle was ordered with — Without means the option was not fitted at the factory . The specification is fixed at production: if the vehicle was modified afterwards (a PTO added, an axle converted), the FPC list still shows the original order, while the SOPS parameters show the current configuration of each control unit. Scania SOPS Editor decodes the full specification of a SOPS file with these descriptions — including the codes themselves, which are not published here.
Questions we get about it
Can I enable CarPlay on an older AUS4 truck by writing this characteristic?
In our test it did not. The specification is accepted but the head unit behaves exactly as before. Check the physical requirements first (media USB port, original cable, Siri on), then the AUS4 software level in SDP3.
Why does Scania's catalogue call this characteristic "Vacant"?
The catalogue text was never updated when the function was introduced; only the variant descriptions were. We publish the corrected name.
