Fan start temperature offset
SOPS parameter FanStartOffset · seen in 7 SOPS files
What it controls
Offset in degrees applied to the coolant temperature at which the engine management requests the cooling fan. A positive offset lets the engine run hotter before the fan starts, saving fuel and noise in cool climates; a zero or negative offset starts the fan earlier, which is what operators in hot countries or with stationary PTO work usually need. It is often adjusted together with the forced-fan-during-PTO setting in the coordinator. After an engine control unit replacement the value must be restored from the original specification, otherwise the fan behaviour changes and the driver reports either a noisy fan or high-temperature warnings.
