Brake light during downhill speed control
SOPS parameter DhscBrakeLight · seen in 14 SOPS files
What it controls
Sets whether the brake lights come on while the downhill speed control (DHSC) is braking the vehicle with the retarder and exhaust brake. Legislation in most European countries requires the brake lights to signal retarder deceleration above a certain level, and the factory value follows the market the vehicle was sold to; vehicles re-registered in another country may need the value checked. Operators sometimes ask to disable the lamp because following drivers see constant brake lights on long descents — that is only acceptable where the regulation allows it, so the parameter is one to confirm with the inspection authority rather than change on request.
