Retarder — maximum brake torque limitation type

SOPS parameter LimitMaxRetarderBrakeTorqueType · seen in 14 SOPS files

What it controls

Chooses whether and how the maximum torque of the hydraulic retarder is reduced. No reduction lets the retarder deliver its full rated torque; the reduction options cap it to protect the driveline (for instance on vehicles with a lighter rear axle than the retarder was specified for) or to give a softer response on slippery roads. Fleet operators in mountainous regions usually keep no reduction and rely on the driver's training; vehicles converted to lighter operation, or with a replaced rear axle of lower rating, may need a reduction. Change it together with the retarder performance mode, as the two settings define the same torque envelope.
